ODESSA, TX. The Odessa Roughnecks are pleased to announce the hiring of Sports Marketing veteran, Tommy Selby. The 34 year old professional joins the Roughnecks after assisting with the NIFL franchise in Lubbock over the past several months. Prior to his time with the Gunslingers, Tommy served as the Sales Manager for the world champion San Antonio Spurs.
Though the Roughnecks had led the IFL last year and are now amongst the top couple of teams in attendance this season in the NIFL, team president Tommy Benizio stated, "We are here to create something that our community can be proud of and enjoy. The games seem to be more entertaining the larger the crowd. This coupled with our commitment to serving our corporate partners make a ticket sales expert like Mr. Selby a must." Tommy will serve as the team's Vice President, replacing Larry Kiernan who will be moving on after the season in pursuit of a professional basketball opportunity.
Selby not only sports his NBA Championship ring, but also an impressive resume in ticket sales. Prior to being responsible for hiring and training all new ticket sales reps for the Spurs, he was the Assistant General Manager with the Knoxville Ice Bears, a professional hockey team in Tennessee, and served as the Vice President and Director of Ticket Operations for both the Corpus Christi Rayz and the El Paso Buzzards of the Central Hockey League.
Prior to his professional career, Mr. Selby was part of the Texas A & M Aggies football staff. During his time in school, he assisted in the ticket department and was the equipment manager for the team. He and his wife Amy now reside in Odessa along with their two-year old daughter McKenzie and are expecting their second child this winter.
