Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Mud Hens teed off for three two-run bombs en route to an 8-6 come-from-behind win at Fifth Third Field Monday night.

The IronPigs struck first in the first inning after Cesar Hernandez tripled and later scored on a Darin Ruf double to mount a 1-0 lead for the visitors. The Hens tied the game back up in the third when Danny Worth doubled to deep left to score Argenis Diaz for his first RBI of the season.

Lehigh Valley took the lead again in the fourth inning when Leandro Castro delivered a moonshot to score three and give the IronPigs a 4-1 lead. The deficit was cut in the bottom of the inning when Ben Guez delivered his second homer in as many days, this one a two-run bomb to bring the score to 4-3. Argenis Diaz then followed through with a two-run blast of his own to give the Hens a 5-4 lead in the inning.

The Hens exploded for three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend their lead to 8-4. Danny Dorn led off the scoring with an RBI sacrifice fly, which was followed by Mike Cervenak's 2-run bomb, the Hens' third of the game. Lehigh Valley slashed the lead back to two after Jermaine Mitchell added his own two-run homer to make it 8-6 in the seventh.

Casey Crosby tossed just one inning in his start after injuring himself during a tumble on an infield hit in the first. Crosby finished the inning, but left before throwing a pitch in the second. Robbie Weinhardt came on in relief and tossed a season-high 5 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and five runs (two earned) in the victory. Bruce Rondon came on in the ninth to shut the door and earn his 14th save.

The Mud Hens will go for their eighth-straight tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. at Fifth Third Field. Tomorrow's starter is still to be determined.
