Help the Turfcats help the food bank

Austin, TX - The Austin Turfcats and the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas will work to end hunger in their local communities during a Twitter signup and two upcoming home games. The games selected will be the May 16th game versus the Houma Conquerors and the June 20th game versus the Texas Pirates of Houston. The organizations will collect canned goods and non-perishable food items at front ticketing entrances to Adfirmative.com Field at Travis County Expo Center for these two upcoming games.
The team will also donate 10 cents to the Food Bank for new TCAT followers in the next fourteen days at www.twitter.com/austinturfcats.
All fans who participate in the food drive will receive $2.00 off each game ticket and one winner selected by drawing will have the opportunity to walk out with the team for the opening coin flip with team captains.
"I am thankful for the opportunity to give back to our community during hard economic times," said Turfcats Vice-President/General Manager Ronald Oswalt. "I urge all fans attending the games to bring a canned good item or drop it off at the designated games. It may seem like a small donation, but it goes so far for our neighbors, friends and family in need."
Participants can also drop off canned goods at the Capital Area Food located on 8201 S Congress Avenue in Austin during their office hours.
"More and more Central Texans are turning to their local food pantries for help; demand is up more than 50 percent across Central Texas," said David Davenport, CAFB President & CEO. "On behalf of the hundreds of thousands of people in need in our area, we are truly grateful to the Austin Turfcats and the entire indoor football community for hosting this food drive. Everything collected will help feed our hungry neighbors."
