Joliet Slammers News Release

(Joliet, IL) - The Joliet Slammers, presented by ATI Physical Therapy, announced Wednesday their lovable mascot Spikes has adopted an adorable puppy who will be at Silver Cross Field all summer long. But Spikes needs the Slammers' fans help naming him!

When asked about his thoughts on the new puppy, Spikes said "Woof" and wagged his tail a lot.

"What Spikes is trying to say is that he's really excited," Assistant General Manager of Promotions Kelli Drechsel said. "He can't wait until his new friend arrives."

Fans can go to jolietslammers.com/namethedog to submit their ideas. All entries must be received by Friday, May 3rd at 5:00 p.m. Spikes will pick his favorite name out of all the suggestions! The person who suggests the name Spikes chooses will win 4 tickets to the Slammers Bark in the Park on Sunday, May 19th and also get to throw out a first pitch that day! If more than one person suggests the name that Spikes chooses, a winner will be selected at random.

For updates on the new dog's arrival, fans should "like" the Slammers on Facebook and "follow" them on Twitter . Fans can also check out the YouTube video of the newest member of the Slammers' family.

When asked his thoughts on the matter, J.L. Bird exercised his Fifth Amendment rights and remained silent.
