Vermont Frost Heaves News Release
South Burlington, Vt.-The Vermont Frost Heaves have been invited to visit the floor of the Vermont Statehouse on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. A resolution honoring the team, now 21-4 and No. 2 in the American Basketball Association's power rankings, will be read and adopted.
Two days later, at halftime of the Frost Heaves' game at the Barre Municipal Auditorium, legislators will pull on sneakers and play a pick-up game among themselves as part of Legislators' Night. Speaker of the House Gaye Symington (D-Jericho) is expected to officiate, while season-ticket holder Sen. William Doyle (R-Washington) suits up for the Frost Heaves, sits the bench and stands ready if needed as the Northfield Savings Bank 110% Community All-Star.
Thursday's game, originally scheduled against the Hollywood Fame, will instead feature the Bellingham (Wash.) Slam, leaders of the ABA's Red North Division with an 18-6 record and No. 8 position in the power rankings. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m.
Bellingham returns to the Aud two days later for a 4:05 p.m. matinee, as Bond Auto Parts presents Bump's Birthday Party. The first 1,000 fans through the doors will receive a free "flip" Bump collectible card, and Bump the Moose and his mascot friends will entertain at halftime with their own full-court pick-up game.
The Frost Heaves' next game in Burlington's Memorial Auditorium, on Thursday, Feb. 15, will feature the Maryland Nighthawks, who are expected to bring their new Chinese signee, Sun Ming Ming-at 7'9", the tallest player in basketball history.
