Comments from an All-Star fan
February 4, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Newmarket, ON. (The following are comments from a fan who traveled all the way from Toronto to Halifax to attend the ABA All Star Weekend). "Just a quick note to thank the league and the people behind the Halifax Rainmen for a great all-star weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed Sunday's game and the previous evening's skills competition and felt it was well worth the trip from Toronto.
I am always impressed by the way the players interact with the fans, especially the kids.
I hope to take in another ABA All-Star Game in the not-too-distant future (as long as it's not in Hawaii!!). Also hope that the Mississauga franchise gets off the ground next year, so that there's be a team relatively close by (about 40 miles). In the meantime, I'll continue to catch the odd game in either Buffalo or Rochester.
Anyway, thanks again for a great weekend. Regards,
Bill Kay
Newmarket, Ontario
(And thank you Bill for the kind comments. Much appreciated. And to all of you who have written to say how much you enjoyed seeing the ABA's best in action - thank you also. Joe Newman, ABA CEO).
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
