
Heaves Make It Rain on Halifax

Barre, Vt.-The Vermont Frost Heaves trailed after the first quarter, but gathered steam over the next two to defeat Halifax Thursday night at the Barre Auditorium, 127-105.
Vermont placed six players in double digits with Antonio Burks leading the way with 23 points. On his heels were five other Heaves: B.J. Robertson (16), Dwayne Lee (14), Brett Gravitt (14), Erik Nelson (13), and Markus Austin (12). Lee also had six boards and seven assists while Nelson took down 9 rebounds to help the cause.
The Frost Heaves ended the first quarter trailing the Rainmen by two. But that wouldn't last long as Vermont pulled ahead in the second. Issa Konare hit a buzzer beating three-pointer to end the second quarter and put the Heaves up by 10. Vermont then outscored the visitors 10-2 to begin the third quarter and never looked back.
Leading Halifax was Brian Silverhorn with 28 points and seven rebounds. With the loss the Rainmen fall to 8-15.
Vermont, 23-4 and No. 1 in the ABA Power Rankings, will return to the Aud on Saturday, Feb. 9, to take on the Blizzard with a 2:05 p.m. tip. The Frost Heaves will help Aubuchon Hardware celebrate its 100th Anniversary.
