CATCH Program Enjoys Boston Breakers Game!
Thanks to a generous donor and the Boston Breakers, the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center's CATCH program enjoyed a fantastic Soccer Night with the Boston Breakers at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville.
The CATCH program supports families in East Boston, Chelsea, Revere, Winthrop, Everett, Somerville, and other surrounding towns that have children with complex medical issues. In addition to great clinical care, having participants be active and enjoying activities outside the home is a strength of the program.
Each family who came to the soccer event was treated to a fun tailgate party, an awesome Umbro soccer ball, and an exciting hi-five experience with the Boston Breaker Team, and of course, were able to watch a thrilling Breakers victory!
Earlier in the day, Breakers Katherine Donnelly and Emma Thomson ran a clinic for the CATCH program in East Boston. For more on the CATCH program and addtional photos, visit www.bostonbreakerssoccer.com.
Breakers make it three straight
The Breakers scored a 2-0 win Saturday over the New York Fury in front of 2,117 at Dilboy Stadium. Forward Kyah Simon scored two goals to give her a league-best nine goals on the season. With the win, the Breakers are now 7-2, and in second place in WPSL Elite.
"I'm really pleased with the performance," Breakers Head Coach Lisa Cole said. "New York is a great team. They always give us a battle. Earlier this year when we went down to their place, we really took it to them a little bit, and I think kind of caught them by surprise."
Saturday's game marked the Boston Breakers debut of U.S. Women's National Team midfielder Heather O'Reilly, who delighted the sold-out crowd with some dazzling displays, putting a handful of shots on goal, nearly scoring on a few occassions.
