Heard About the Longest Tennis Match on Record? Yeah, We Thought So

ST. LOUIS, Mo.- July is just around the corner and the St. Louis Aces and World TeamTennis (WTT) have exciting things happening as they get ready for their legendary 2010 season. 2010 marks the 35th season of World TeamTennis.

Legendary records were broken yesterday as WTT player and world no. 19, John Isner and Nicolas Mahut battled it out in a lengthy first round Wimbledon match. The match was tied at 59 games each in the fifth set when it had to be suspended for the second day in a row due to darkness. As of Wednesday night the match has gone on for a total of 10 hours, yesterday's fifth set took around 7 of those hours making it the longest tennis match on record. Isner will play for WTT's Boston Lobsters this July in Boston.

To keep up with the legendary season of tennis, St. Louis Aces leading lady Anna Kournikova and visiting marquee player Martina Hingis will play together in the Legends Doubles Tournament at Wimbledon. Kournikova will join the Aces in St. Louis on July 17 to take on the Newport Beach Breakers. Hingis will play in St. Louis on July 22 with her team, the New York Buzz.

Tennis legend and Aces star Lindsay Davenport will play mixed doubles with Bob Bryan at Wimbledon. Davenport will play six home matches for the Aces including the home opener on July 6 and July 7, 9, 10, 13 & 17. She will face off against World No. 2 Venus Williams of the Washington Kastles on July 10 and she will team up with Anna Kournikova on July 17.

To kick of the 35th season of WTT in legendary style the Aces are hosting 35 th Season Throwback Night on Tuesday, July 6. The home opener will feature 1970's prices on tickets and concessions, funky throwback tunes and a costume contest where the best retro outfit wins tickets to the 2010 US Open. You can get 2 adult tickets for the July 6 home opener for $35 ($17.50 each) and tickets are $15 for kids 12 & under.
