Hazlett Walks It Off Tuesday Night

Pulaski VA (August, 16 2011) - It was a close and exciting game Tuesday night at Historic Calfee Park. A crowd of 693 fans showed up to watch the Pulaski Mariners win 4-3 via a Dillon Hazlett game winning homerun.

The Astros struck first blood in the top of the first inning. Josh Magee lead the game off for Greenville with a lead-off single. He came around to score on a Jesse Wierzbicki RBI single to give the Astros the early 1-0 lead.

They would add two more runs to the scoreboard in the fourth inning to take a 3-0 lead before the Mariners answered back in the bottom of the inning. Alfredo Morales hit his first of two RBI doubles in the fourth to cut the Astros lead to two. Alfredo's second RBI double came in the eighth inning that scored Daniel Paolini to tie the game at three runs apiece going into the ninth.

The Mariners Joshua Corrales shut down the Astros for a thee up/three down ninth inning giving Pulaski a chance to win the game in the bottom half. Dillon Hazlett lead the inning off for Pulaski, and on a full count blasted a ball deep to left field, off the visiting clubhouse for the walk-off homerun. Hazlett's first homer of the year gave the Mariners the 4-3 win and kept their playoff hopes alive.

Corrales (2-0) earned the win while Zachary Dando (1-2) was tagged for the loss. For the Mariners, Alfredo Morales went 2-4 with two RBI and Daniel Paolini went 1-3 with two runs scored.

Game two of the three game series between the Pulaski Mariners and the Greenville Astros will be tomorrow night at &:00 p.m. at Historic Calfee Park.
