Danville Otterbots News Release

Danville, VA - The Danville Braves were able to walk off the winners in Tuesday night's affair with the Princeton Rays. Kurt Fleming laid down a sacrifice bunt in front of Princeton pitcher, David Kubiak. Kubiak picked up the ball and threw it away when trying to throw out Fleming allowing Elmer Reyes to score. The Braves won 3-2 in thrilling fashion.

D-Braves starter, JR Graham, got off to a rough start in the top of the first inning when the Rays tagged him for four hits and two runs. The Rays had runners on second and third with one out when Taylor Motter hit a tough chopper to Brandon Drury at third base. Drury charged it, but he was unable to come up with it cleanly. The play allowed the Rays first run to score before Cameron Seitzer became the fourth Ray to single in the inning. Seitzer's single to left field scored Jake Hager and gave the Rays a 2-0 lead. The two runs in the inning would be the only two for the Rays all game long.

In the third, the Braves were able to get the two runs back and tie the game. Kurt Fleming led off the inning with a single. Later in the inning, with Fleming at third and Kyle Kubitza at first, Brandon Drury singled up the middle to score Fleming. Two batters later, Sam Munson singled to left-center field allowing Kubitza to score the game-tying run.

Graham was lights out at the first inning. He allowed just four more hits in his next five and two-thirds. Graham was the first Danville starter this season to go more than six innings. He ended up throwing six and two-thirds innings, giving up eight hits and two earned runs.

Graham gave way in the bottom of the seventh to Ryne Harper. Harper came in to face Drew Vettleson with runners on second and third with two outs. Harper ended up getting Vettleson to strike out and end the Rays threat.

In the ninth, Rays pitcher, Marcus Jensen walked Elmer Reyes and Chad Comer to lead off the inning. David Kubiak came in to replace Jensen who had thrown three plus inning already. The first batter Kubiak faced, Kurt Fleming, laid down a sacrifice bunt. Kubiak fielded the ball and threw it far to the right of Ryan Brett who was covering first. Reyes was able to come around from second and score the Braves winning run.

Harper earned his second win of the year and the Braves earned their 31st. The Braves have now won four straight and put themselves back into a first place tie with the Bluefield Blue Jays. The Princeton loss was the team's seventh straight.

Game two of the three game series is set for tomorrow at 7:00 pm. For more information on the schedule, tickets, group nights, and/or partnership opportunities please contact the Danville Braves office at (434) 797-3792, email at info@dbraves.com, or log on to www.dbraves.com.
