Hawks Make Jason Collier 12th Gatorade Callup

GREENVILLE, S.C., March 8 â Fayetteville Patriots forward Jason Collier has signed a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks, making him the 12th NBDL-to-NBA "Gatorade Callup" this season. According to the Hawks, a roster spot became available with the expiration of Hiram Fuller's 10-day deal.
Since the NBDL began competition in November 2001, 24 players have received 34 "Gatorade Callups" to play for NBA teams.
Collier has played in 30 games (21 starts) this season with the Patriots, averaging 15.4 ppg and 7.2 rpg (.457 FG%, .811 FT%). He participated in 2003 training camp with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
A three-year NBA veteran, he played in 61 games (five starts) for the Houston Rockets from 2000-03. In 2002-03, he appeared in 13 games, averaging 2.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in 8.0 minutes a contest. In 2001-02, he played in 25 games, tallying 4.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in 14.6 minutes a contest. In 2000-01, in 23 games, he put up 3.1 points and 1.6 rebounds in 9.7 minutes a contest.
Originally drafted by Milwaukee in the first round (15th overall) of the 2000 NBA Draft, Collier's draft rights were subsequently sent to Houston, along with a future first-round draft pick, in exchange for Joel Przybilla on 6/28/00.
