Lancaster JetHawks News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A first-inning home run by Derek Fisher gave the JetHawks their only two runs of the game in a 6-2 rubber-game loss to the Bakersfield Blaze on Thursday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

Fisher's home run was his 16th for the JetHawks (73-63), who went 1-for-9 with men in scoring position. The loss ended a streak of four straight series wins for Lancaster.

Starter Keegan Yuhl lasted just four innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out two.

JetHawks reliever Jordan Mills (1-2) surrendered the game's decisive run via an Austin Wilson solo homer leading off the bottom of the sixth inning for Bakersfield (57-79). The home run broke a 2-2 tie that had stood since the fourth inning.

The Blaze later rallied for three runs in the bottom of the eighth against Andrew Walter. Daniel Torres hit a two-run double to right-center, and Aaron Barbosa added a RBI-single. Emilio Pagan then retired the side in order in the ninth to take the series from Lancaster.

With the JetHawks leading, 2-0, Tyler O'Neill had led off the bottom of the fourth inning for Bakersfield with a solo home run off Yuhl to cut Lancaster's lead to one run. Wilson followed with a single and stole second before scoring the tying run on a base hit by Kyle Petty.

Carlos Misell (5-7) went on to record the win for the Blaze after pitching 1.1 scoreless innings in relief of starter Dan Altavilla.

Lancaster placed a runner in scoring position in four consecutive innings between the third and sixth, but failed to take advantage of the run-scoring opportunities.

The JetHawks return to Lancaster on Friday to close the regular season with a four-game series against the High Desert Mavericks. Lancaster will send a yet-to-be-determined starter against High Desert's Reed Garrett (7-5, 4.96) with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The final Friday Night Fireworks Extravaganza of the season will take place after the game, presented by Anheuser Busch.
