Hawks Back On Track
February 15, 2008 - United States Hockey League (USHL) - Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
While the Waterloo Black Hawks saw the Des Moines Buccaneers erase a two-goal lead Friday, Waterloo still finished on top by a 4-2 score.
Last weekend, the Omaha Lancers trailed by a pair of goals two separate times but came back to beat the Hawks. It didn't happen again Friday.
Just 2:12 into the game, Nick Larson deflected in Billy Maday's shot during a power play for the opening score. In the middle of the opening period, Blake Kessel fired a puck which popped out of Fredrik Bergman's and into the net.
The Buccaneers answered late in the period with Chris Knowlton's power play strike, then tied the game in the second with another power play score from Nate Dewhurst.
At 6:21 of the third, Keegan Meuer raced up ice for a two-on-one, feeding the puck across to Paul Weisgarber who finished the chance and put the Hawks back in front. Kessel's second goal of the night, during a power play with under three minutes remaining, sealed the win.
The Black Hawks are on the road Saturday visiting Des Moines before a Monday game at Tri City.
