Lubbock Hawks News Release
The Lubbock Hawks of the National Women's Basketball League continue to increase its roster. The number of talented ball players headed to the Hub City this January has the makings of a very successful season for one of the newest teams in the NWBL. The Hawks' newest addition, Molly Creamer is the first point guard signed to the team.
Molly joins the Hawks all the way from Mendham, New Jersey. So how is the eastern lady going to adjust to life in Lubbock? Creamer says that she has only visited Texas a couple of times, while playing basketball. She says, "I really like Texas and the people have been friendly and nice."
Coach Estes is pleased with the team's most recent player, "Molly is a good leader on the floor," says Coach Estes, "and she plays very hard. Molly is going to give us a strong point who can score."
Being an effective leader is not new to Creamer. During her freshman season at Bucknell University, she led the team in points and was the only freshman named to the Patriot League All Tournament team.
Molly has set every possible record at Bucknell and is even in the Patriot League history books. She holds the university and league records for highest average points per game in a single season (27.1), field goals made (16), field goals attempted (22), and most points scored in a single game (44).
During Creamer's senior season, she was named Patriot League Player of the Year for the third straight year. She led the league in scoring and assists during her sophomore and junior seasons. Molly finished her career as a Bison, as the school and Patriot League all-time leading scorer with 2462 points.
Molly was drafted by the New York Liberty in the first round of the 2003 WNBA draft, where she spent a portion of the season. Creamer then went to Israel, where she played for the Hapoel Petah Tikva of the Israeli League.
Molly says she wanted to stay in the states and train. The Lubbock Hawks have given her the best opportunity. Creamer is looking forward to playing with a lot of good players. She joins Stacy Stephens, Alicia Thompson, Plenette Pierson, Shereka Wright, and Jackie Stiles.
Season tickets for the Lubbock Hawks' 2005 inaugural season are currently on sale and can be purchased at the Lubbock Sports Center located at 6024 45th Street or by calling 806-797-2333. All games will be played at the Rip Griffin Center on the campus of Lubbock Christian University. For further information log on to www.nwbl.com.
