Hartinger returns to New Mexico
September 13, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
New Mexico Scorpions News Release
[RIO RANCHO, N.M.]- The New Mexico Scorpions, proud member of the Central Hockey League (CHL), have brought back fan favorite Vladimir Hartinger. This will be the second time Hartinger dons a Scorpions jersey.
Hartinger first came to New Mexico on Feb. 3, 2003 from a trade with the Wichita Thunder. The 27-year-old defenseman stayed with the Scorpions for two more seasons before playing in Fort Worth last year.
"It is always nice to bring back a player the fans know and respect," said Head Coach Ray Edwards. "He has always been a fan favorite and a solid player in New Mexico and we expect that to continue this season."
Scorpions' fans will be excited to know Hartinger is bringing back his great hands and hard hits to the region. The Czech native has played in 275 CHL games over five seasons scoring 139 points (38G, 101A).
"I love it here and can't wait to play in the new arena," said Hartinger. "I am also very excited about playing under the new ownership and Coach Edwards. I really want to be a part of the new Scorpions."
In addition to being a fan favorite wherever he goes, he continually produces on the ice. Hartinger was named to the 2003 CHL All-Star game that was played in Oklahoma City.
"Vladimir is not your typical European born player. He plays with an edge and is a very hard hitter," said Edwards. "He is deceptive with his size and plays bigger than he is. He is very versatile and very much an 'old school' type of player."
The Scorpions will christen the new state-of-the-art Santa Ana Star Center on Friday, October 27, when they face the Arizona Sundogs at 7:35 p.m. This season the Scorpions feature 22 weekend home games. The schedule can also be viewed and printed by visiting www.scorpionshockey.com/schedule.
