HARTFORD ATHLETIC (3-8-3) vs LOUISVILLE CITY FC (9-3-3)

LAST TIME OUT

Hartford Athletic picked up three points last weekend with a commanding 3-0 victory over Atlanta United 2. After Corey Hertzog's first half penalty kick was saved, Luka Prpa opened up the scoring in the 43rd minute to send Hartford into the locker room ahead. The second half was similar to the first, with both teams staying quiet through the first 30 minutes. Rashawn Dally saved a ball from rolling out of play and dished a pass to Joel Johnson who finished for his 4th goal of the year in the 75th minute. Six minutes later, Tom Brewitt closed out the scoring by tapping a rebound in after a Rashawn Dally shot was saved.

WHAT THIS GROUP NEEDS

After the win on Saturday, Harry Watling emphasized how much the dominant win meant to Hartford, stating that a "three-nil victory and a clean sheet is exactly what this group deserves and needed. As soon as the whistle went we were obsessed with getting the three points and trying to climb the table." An uplifting victory for Hartford, as they've posted just a 12% conversion rate this season and the three goals tied their season high. They have suffered disappointing results through 14 games, but a win against top-seeded Louisville would make a statement.

SEIZE THE MOMENT

Harry Watling emphasized how special Saturday's match against Louisville will be, saying "Playing live on ESPN in front of hundreds of thousands, potentially more, so what more do you need as a footballer? It's a beautiful moment for you and your families and you just need to seize the moment." As the coach said, Saturday's match will be televised, not streamed, on ESPN at 1:00 PM. In addition, Hartford will be expecting a large crowd for one of the only midday games this season against the Eastern Conference leaders, so Athletic will surely be looking to fulfill their gaffer's wishes and seize the moment in front of their fans.

HOPING FOR HISTORY

Hartford Athletic have never beaten Louisville City FC, with an 0-3 all-time record against this weekend's opponent. They have nearly done it twice before, dropping two of the contests by only a goal.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Hartford Athletic, Tom Brewitt, DF #5

Tom Brewitt turned in a stellar week across two games and four points for Hartford Athletic last week. He made a game saving block on Hartford's goal line against Memphis in stoppage time, and added a goal and an assist in Hartford's 3-0 victory at Atlanta last Saturday. He totaled six interceptions and seven clearances on the week as well, earning him a spot on the USL Championship Team of the Week, the first player to be selected from the Green and Blue this season.

Louisville City FC, Wilson Harris, FW #14

Wilson Harris has been a standout player on an exceptional Louisville City FC squad that stands in second in the USL Championship's Eastern Conference table. Green and Blue fans may remember Harris as a familiar face after scoring a controversial extra-time equalizer in a 2-2 draw against Swope Park Rangers during the 2019 inaugural season. This campaign, he leads the team in both goals and assists as well as accounting for a league-best 36 shots on target. Harris scored a goal from the stripe against Orange County SC on Saturday and has a burst of momentum heading into a matchup with Hartford this weekend.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT

Louisville jumped ahead of Memphis 901 FC to take sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference after a 3-1 victory over Orange County SC last week. They currently hold a 9-3-3 record, amassing 30 points on the year and have tallied the second highest goal total in the USL Championship this season with 30. Defensively, Louisville has managed a league-leading seven clean sheets this year.
