HarbourCats Unveil Official Team Mascot
March 28, 2013 - West Coast League (WCL)
Victoria HabourCats News Release
General Manager Holly Jones is pleased to reveal the team's new mascot. Harvey the HarbourCat debuted on Thursday morning at the Hotel Rialto. He was welcomed to the Victoria mascot community by Marty the Marmot from the Victoria Royals, Striker from the Victoria Highlanders, and Thunder from the University of Victoria.
Harvey was the name chosen from all submissions to the Name the Mascot Contest. Multiple fans recommended the name Harvey, and the three winners were chosen from a drawing from all Harvey submissions. Julie MacDonald is the Grand Prize Winner of the contest, and she won a pair of season tickets. When asked why she chose the name, Julie said, "Harvey sounds like a name that a manager of a baseball team might have." Aniko Varga and Maggie Hayes were Runners Up in the contest, and they each won a 10-Game Flex Pack.
Fans who are interested in inviting Harvey to their event can invite him via his email address Harvey@harbourcats.com. Harvey is expected to have a busy social calendar, and he looks forward to being an active member of the community.
In addition to Harvey's unveiling, the HarbourCats announced that 10-Game Flex Pack holders will be able to select their games and individual seats starting on Monday, April 1.
The HarbourCats are looking for billet families to house players during the season. Anyone interested in hosting a player should contact Karen@harbourcats.com for more information.
