Hansen, Murphy Named First 2011 "Ironmen"

SALT LAKE CITY - After stellar athletic performances, the Utah Blaze have selected senior quarterback Chase Hansen from Lone Peak High School and senior midfielder Michelle Murphy from Alta High School as the first 2011 "Ironmen".
In the Arena Football League, the Ironman Award is given to the player that goes above and beyond to help lead their team to victory in multiple facets of the game.
Hansen, who has committed to the University of Utah, accounted for an incredible eight touchdowns last week in the Knights' 56-41 win over Highland. He guided the Rams to victory by completing 24-of-30 passes for 386 yards and six touchdowns. On the ground, he rushed 16 times for 171 yards and two scores. Hansen has accounted for 18 touchdowns in the past four games.
In ten games this season, Murphy has amassed 18 goals for Alta, leading the team. Murphy has helped guide Alta to a seven-game winning streak in which it has outscored the opposition 35-0. In three matchups, she has tallied nine goals with two-games consisting of four goals each.
Members of the Utah Blaze, the local media and members of Prep Magazine will collaborate to select a list of candidates twice a month to be eligible for the award. The finalists be announced and then their family, friends and classmates will have the opportunity to vote for their candidate online. The winners will be announced the 1st and 15th of each month.
At the end of the school year, a male and female "Ironman Athlete of the Year" will be presented at a 2012 Utah Blaze home game. All award winners will receive a certificate of achievement and have their name and picture posted at prepsmag.com, utblaze.com and the official Facebook page of the Utah Blaze.
