Hank Aaron mini-bobblehead giveaway highlights June 14 Express game
April 12, 2012 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Eau Claire Express News Release
Eau Claire, Wis. - April 12, 2012 - Each season, the Eau Claire Express honor the history of Carson Park for one game by hosting a "Turn Back the Clock Night". The support of RCU in this event has allowed the Express to wear replica 1952 Eau Claire Bears jerseys, sell hot dogs for $1.00 and provide numerous giveaways to fans in past seasons. This year, RCU will take it one step further and will give away mini-bobblehead dolls of Hank Aaron to select fans at the front gates to celebrate a special anniversary.
On June 14, 1952, Hank Aaron made his professional baseball debut while playing for the Eau Claire Bears at Carson Park.
As many know, he played one season in Eau Claire before a 21-year Major League career with the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves and the Milwaukee Brewers. At the time of his retirement, he had hit a then-MLB record 755 career home runs. On June 14, 2012, 60 years to the day after Aaron's first professional at-bat, the Express and RCU will celebrate this anniversary with a great collectible giveaway.
"RCU is pleased to partner with the Eau Claire Express to bring this exciting celebration to Carson Park," said Vicki Hoehn, RCU's Executive Vice President of Marketing. "We are honored to make it possible for residents of the Chippewa Valley to take home this keepsake as way to commemorate Hank Aaron's career and place in Eau Claire baseball history."
Gates will open at 5:30 on June 14 for the 6:35 PM first pitch. Bobblehead dolls quantities are limited, so fans are encouraged to arrive at Carson Park early if they hope to obtain a bobblehead. Season ticket holders are guaranteed a bobblehead.
Remaining bobbleheads will be given away, one per person. The Hank Aaron doll will be the first of four mini-bobblehead giveaways at Carson Park this summer. See the promotional schedule on the Express website for the other dates and featured players.
"I can't think of a better way to kick off our bobblehead giveaway series this year," said Express General Manager Andy Neborak. "We are very excited that RCU has shared in our enthusiasm for this great collector's item celebrating the history of baseball in Eau Claire."
The Express begin their 2012 season at Carson Park on May 30 versus the Wisconsin Woodchucks. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM, with gates opening at 5:30. Season tickets and 5-game packs are available now, with most single-game tickets going on sale May 1.
