Hammers To Face Top Defense

May 6, 2014 - Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL)
Alabama Hammers News Release

The Alabama Hammers travel to Bethleham, PA to face the undefeated LeHigh Valley Steelhawks at Stabler Arena this Sunday, May 11, with a 3 p.m. kickoff to be televised on WAMY-MY8TV. For both the Hammers and Steelhawks, this is game five of the 2014 season, though the Hammers had its scheduled game-five postponed on April 28 due to inclement weather.

"We will face a versatile team this week in LeHigh Valley as they are dynamic on offense as they run the ball as well as they throw it," said Dean Cokinos head coach of the Hammers.

The Steelhawks (4-0) have the top rated defense allowing the fewest points (140) through its four games while putting up the second lowest points on offense. Meanwhile, the Hammers have posted good numbers on offense, but have fallen on defense, especially in the late stages of recent games.

"We really need to put forth 60 minutes of solid football and eliminate the negative plays and have more winning plays, collectively, from all 20 players on our roster," added Cokinos.

In addition to the special Sunday afternoon matchup being broadcast on MY8TV, the contest is on the Hammers Radio Network, which is available on WAFN-FM, 92.7-Arab, WZZN-FM, 97.7 The Zone-Huntsville and WWIC-AM, 1050-Scottsboro. Michael St. John and Steve Moulton will handle both the TV and radio play-by-play.
