Alabama Hammers News Release
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Alabama Hammers made quick work of Fayetteville in their regular season home finale Saturday night at the Von Braun Center's Propst Arena.
Quarterback Harrison Beck threw eight touchdown passes - six of those going to former North Alabama teammate Mico McSwain - as the Hammers cruised to a 93-12 victory before 2,660 fans. Ex-Lion Maurice Dupree also had a touchdown catch and Ole Miss alumnus Travis Blanchard had another as the Hammers improved to 4-7 on the Southern Indoor Football League season.
Blanchard also had a pair of rushing touchdowns and Beck - in his first appearance of the season - hit on 17 of 28 passes for 219 yards. Garry Pack led Alabama with 10 tackles and a sack and ex-Alabama A&M standout Darian Payne had seven stops.
"You don't complain about a win and it was nice to see some different things out there,'' said Hammers coach Marty Hammond, whose team plays at Albany (Ga.) on Saturday to complete the regular season.
"Now we just have to take the positives from this victory and go make a statement in Albany."
The Hammers jumped to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter on an 18-yard pass from Beck to McSwain seconds in, Payne's 20-yard interception return, Blanchard's 7-yard run and a 16-yard scoring catch from McSwain.
