Hammers Look For Payback Against Trenton

May 28, 2015 - Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL)
Alabama Hammers News Release

The Alabama Hammers will travel to Trenton, PA. for a game versus the Freedom on Saturday, May 30 with kickoff set for 6:00 p.m. CDT in game nine of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) season.

The Hammers (3-5) are looking for payback against the Freedom as the two teams met on May 8 at the Von Braun Center only to lose to the visiting Freedom 57-36. This time, things could be much different, according to Hammers' interim head coach Calvin Ousby.

"We're coming off a bye week and we have as many as seven new faces on our roster, including some much needed help at defensive back and defensive end," said Ousby. "We're excited to have new faces in our lineup."

Given the Hammers are currently 3-5 on the season and only four games remain in the regular season, the game versus the Freedom (4-4) is a must win situation for the green and yellow Hammers. Ousby added, "We still believe. Our players never give up and have that never quit attitude. We know we must win-out to make the playoffs."

The Freedom come into the matchup versus the Hammers with the No. 1 ranked defense in the PIFL. Scoring 53 points and giving up 45 points per outing, the Freedom rank third in both categories in the PIFL. Meanwhile, the Hammers rank No. 1 in passing offense and No. 2 in total offense (293 yards per game).

The game can be heard on the Hammers Radio Network including WAFN-FM, 92.7 Fun Radio-Arab, WZZN-FM, 97.7 The Zone-Huntsville and WWIC-AM, 1050-Scottsboro. Michael St. John and Steve Moulton will call the action.
