April 1, 2014 - Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL)
Alabama Hammers News Release

The Alabama Hammers travel to Rome, Georgia this Saturday to face the Georgia Fire in game two of the PIFL season. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. (CT) at the Forum Civic Center in Rome.

This will be the season opener for the Fire, which, along with the Hammers, is one of four teams in the American Division of the PIFL standings. The Fire is coached by Cosmo DeMatteo. Hammer's head coach Dean Cokinos is very familiar with DeMatteo and looks forward to the matchup.

"He played for me at one time and coached with me and he understands the arena game and will have things in place for his team," said Cokinos.

The Hammers came out on the short end of its season opener last weekend at home at the Von Braun Center losing to the Nashville Venom 56-40. For the Hammers to continue to strive to be better on the field, Cokinos said it in one word, "Execute. We have to stay away from dropped passes and penalties. Both of those situations come through executing the plays. We must be better prepared and make the plays."

The Saturday evening contest will be available on the Hammers Radio Network, which is available on WAFN-FM, 92.7-Arab, WZZN-FM, 97.7 The Zone-Huntsville, WWIC-AM, 1050- Scottsboro. Michael St. John and Steve Moulton will handle the radio broadcast.
