
PIFL Names Players of the Week

NASHVILLE, TN (April 1, 2014) - The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) announces that Harrisburg Stampede QB E.J. Nemeth, Trenton Freedom DB Dominic Joseph, and Harrisburg Stampede K Cap Poklemba are the Week 1 Players of the Week.
Thanks to a large contribution from QB E.J. Nemeth, the Harrisburg Stampede had an impressive PIFL debut on Sunday defeating the Columbus Lions 71-52. While simultaneously making their home debut at The Giant Center, Nemeth and company waged a tug-of-war offensive battle that ended with the quarterback setting a new league record. With the previous high being four, Nemeth rushed for a single-game high eight touchdowns in addition to completing 21 of 28 passes for 258 yards adding another two touchdowns via the air. His performance earned him the Week One Offensive Player of the Week.
Behind a strong defensive showing, the Trenton Freedom also had a strong PIFL debut in their home opener on Sunday defeating the Richmond Raiders soundly 52-17. In their win, the Freedom held the Raiders to their lowest scoring output in over two years as well as their second consecutive season-opening loss. In addition to getting 5.5 tackles, Trenton Freedom DB Dominic Joseph earned the Week One Defensive Player of the Week nod when he intercepted a Malik White pass late in the 1st quarter returning it 36-yards for a touchdown. Collectively the Freedom held White to just 21 of 32 passing for 183 yards.
The Week One Vidswap.com Special Teams Player of the Week award goes to Harrisburg Stampede K Cap Poklemba leading all kickers in scoring with ten. In the 71-52 victory over the Lions, Poklemba converted 7 of 9 PAT attempts while also notching a Uno and a 34-yard field goal.
Vidswap.com is a web-based video editing and analysis application for sports organizations specializing in game exchange, video sharing, and game analysis. They serve high school, amateur, college, youth, and pro teams.
Week 2 of PIFL action picks up these Saturday with triple-header action beginning with Columbus (0-1) hosting the Raiders at 7:00 pm in the Lions career 100th game. Then at 7:30 p.m., the Georgia Fire make their indoor debut when they play host to the Alabama Hammers (0-1) followed by the Nashville Venom (1-0) making their home debut versus the Harrisburg Stampede (1-0). The weekend culminates on Sunday when the Steelhawks make their season debut against division rival Trenton at 4:00 pm.
