Hammers Begin Three Game Road Trip At Lehigh Valley

May 13, 2015 - Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL)
Alabama Hammers News Release

The Alabama Hammers will travel to Bethleham, PA. to face the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks for a rare Sunday afternoon game in the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL). Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. CDT.

"We will need to play good fundamental football in this game against the Steelhawks as they have a very mobile, dual threat quarterback and a good set of receivers and offensive line to go along with the quarterback's talents," said Calvin Ousby, interim head coach of the Hammers.

Lehigh Valley (5-2) is tied for first place in the PIFL and has scored 51-points per outing. Alabama (3-4) has lost three straight games and now face the crossroads of the season where a victory is needed.

"Our goal is to get a 'W' as we still have a chance at the PIFL Championship as anything can happen in this league," said Ousby on the Hammers' first meeting against the Steelhawks this season. "We took some time off, rested and we're looking forward to make this road trip and have some fun. I like the adjustments we've made for this game on Sunday."

The Hammers lead the PIFL in passing offense (1,982/283-yds p/g) with quarterback Garrett Sutphen leading the league in total offensive yards (1,973) and offensive touchdowns (44). Ousby added, "We need to eliminate mental mistakes. This road trip will be a good time for team bonding."

The game can be heard on the Hammers Radio Network including WAFN-FM, 92.7 Fun Radio-Arab, WZZN-FM, 97.7 The Zone-Huntsville and WWIC-AM, 1050-Scottsboro. Michael St. John and Steve Moulton will call the action.
