Hammerheads to hand over reins to new head coach

January 17, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL) - Corpus Christi Hammerheads News Release

Corpus Christi, TX- A New Era in Hammerheads Football has arrived. When we think of coaches throughout history, it’s easy to identify them with the sports franchises they coached for. A certain charisma is needed to be at the helm of a professional sports franchise because the coach personifies the team and puts a face and attitude to the organization. The perfect example of this is Tom Landry, who can forget the image of him with his arms folded and that glaring scowl that pierced the soul and reprimanded without words, and of course the famous grey fedora that rested atop his head. This image is synonymous with Cowboys Football of the sixties, seventies, and into the eighties. Coaches become extensions of their respective teams, they are constantly under a microscope, and are always under pressure to produce results and to be a leader to the team all at the same time. It goes without saying that the Head Coach of a team must possess certain qualities that will allow him to perform his job well, and the Hammerheads believe they have found their man.

The Corpus Christi Hammerheads are expecting to start a New Era and long standing tradition of winning and excellence even Landry would be proud of as they hand over the reins to a new head coach at 3 PM on Thursday, January 20, 2005. The press conference will be held at The Olive Garden, one of the Hammerheads best sponsors. All are invited to attend this celebration of a New Beginning for the Corpus Christi Hammerheads.
