Jupiter Hammerheads News Release

JUPITER, FL - Right now nothing is going right for the Jupiter Hammerheads. The Sharks were swept by Lakeland after a lopsided 12-2 loss on Friday night at Roger Dean Stadium.

Coming into the game with a six game losing streak, Jupiter turned to its best pitcher, Scott Lyman, to right the ship.

But Lyman did not have his best stuff and the Flying Tigers jumped all over him.

In the second Lakeland loaded the bases when Austin Green tripled and Lyman walked the eight and nine men in the order. Chad Wright would make him pay as he sliced a bases clearing double to make it 3-0.

Harold Castro would then deliver with a single on a blooper to center to give Lakeland a 4-0 advantage.

The Flying Tigers would add to the lead in the third when Matt Juengel got a bad jump on ball off the James Robbins and it got over his head for a double as Connor Harrell scored from first.

After Lyman allowed an infield single and a walk to start the fourth, he was pulled from the game. Ryan Wertenberger then allowed a single to load the bases yet again. And again the Flying Tigers would drive all three men home with one swing as Lance Durham lined a double over the head of the center fielder to make it 8-0.

The offensive rout would continue in the sixth as Lakeland added four runs to its total.

The Hammerheads would strike for a pair in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a sac fly by Viosergy Rosa and a RBI single by Juengel but it would be far too late for a comeback as the losing streak stretched to seven games.

Jupiter will be happy to see a new opponent on Saturday, although that team happens to be the best one in the league, the Dunedin Blue Jays.

Jupiter and Dunedin will start a four-game set on Saturday night. It will be Halfway to Halloween at the Dean, a night of trick-or-treating, costume contests and a haunted front office, as RDS is turned into a summer Halloween festival. There will also be a helicopter candy drop prior to the game. It will also be the 2nd Dog Days of Summer and a prize will be given to the best dressed dog.
