Hammerheads Host Chattanooga FC in U.S. Open Cup

Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC is scheduled to host Chattanooga FC at Legion Stadium at 7:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May 20 for the second round of the 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Wilmington and Chattanooga also faced off in the second round of U.S. Open Cup in 2014. Chattanooga made U.S. Open Cup history last year following a victory over the Hammerheads, being the first NPSL team to defeat a professional team in the tournament. This year, Wilmington has the home pitch advantage as they look to redeem themselves and reach the third round. The winner of Wednesday's match will host the Atlanta Silverbacks of the National American Soccer League on Wednesday, May 27.
Chattanooga visits Wilmington after defeating the Ocala Stampede in the first round at Finley Stadium in penalty kicks last week.
For those that are unfamiliar with the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, it is recognized as U.S. Soccer's National Club Championship and is an annual knockout competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with the United States Soccer Federation. The tournament has crowned a champion for 101 consecutive years dating from 1914.
Tickets to Wednesday's match are available for $5 per person. Tickets may be purchased online at www.wilmingtonhammerheads.com or at the box office of Legion Stadium when the gates open at 5:30 p.m. the day of the match. Play-by-play updates will be available via the Hammerheads' Twitter account.
The Hammerheads continue their regular season schedule on Saturday, May 30 at Blackbaud Stadium against the Charleston Battery before returning to Legion Stadium on Saturday, June 6 to face the Battery once more.
