Halifax Cruises To Easy Victory Over Montreal

Halifax, NS - Jimmy Twyman had 30 and Tony Bennett added 21 to lead Halifax to a 147-109 victory over Montreal. The loss for Montreal was their ninth straight.

Montreal had an early 7-6 lead on a Tyler Duschinski dunk, but when Cordell Jeanty hit from the outside for Halifax to give the Rainmen an 8-7 lead, it was the last time Montreal would lead the contest. Halifax proceeded to go on a 10-2 run and the Rainmen would cruise from there.

Halifax led by five after one and then outscored Montreal 39-18 in the second quarter and took a 26 point lead into the half. The Rainmen would stretch their lead to as many as 44 before cruising to a 38 point victory.

There were two double doubles in the contest for the Rainmen who in addition to his 21 points got 12 assists from Tony Bennett. Eric Crookshank had the second double double with 14 points and 12 boards.

For Montreal, Tristan Martin had a game high 34 with Jasen Hunt and Andrew Richards adding 20 points each.

With the victory, Halifax finishes the season with a record of 12-8 while Montreal drops to 3-13. Montreal has one game remaining, a home game against Rochester on Tuesday night to be played in Chicago.

Notes: Bennett had a season high eight steals. Halifax shot 51.4 percent from the floor compared to 43.5 percent for Montreal.
