Halifax Hurricanes News Release

HALIFAX, NS (Oct. 20, 2015) - Halifax basketball fans are bracing for a storm that is forecast for Scotiabank Centre in December 2015, when the Halifax Hurricanes take the court for their first National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) season.

Today at Scotiabank Centre the Halifax Hurricane's name and logo was released to fans, along with the first player signing and the launch of the team's season ticket campaign.

The Hurricanes announced the signings of Halifax fan favourite Cliff Clinkscales, a 6-foot-1point guard and floor lead, and Mike Glover, a 6-foot-8 forward.

Clinkscales, a native of Queens and all-star point guard with the Halifax Rainmen, will return to Halifax to play a key role for the Hurricanes. A native of the Bronx and graduate of Iona College, Glover most recently played for Villa Angela Basket (Argentina, TNA) and prior to that in the top league in Turkey.

"Today marks several important milestone for our team and basketball fans in Halifax, and I hope our city is ready for an exciting year of Hurricanes basketball," said Don Mills, chairman of the soon to be formed board of the Hurricane's ownership group, Halifax Professional Basketball Club Inc. (HPBC). "We now have a name and logo that fans can rally around, we have signed two of the best players in the league in Cliff and Mike, and more importantly, fans can secure their seats for a season of cheering for their Halifax Hurricanes."

The team also launched its season ticket campaign, which is up to a 25% decrease in prices compared to Halifax's previous NBL Canada team.

Season tickets in the lower bowl are $100 for youth, $150 for students, $215 for seniors (60+) and $260 for adults. Prices do not include HST.

Season tickets include 20 Halifax Hurricane's home games and one exhibition game. Tickets are available by contacting the team's head office. For more information or to purchase season tickets visit www.HalifaxHurricanes.ca.

"We want Hurricane's games to be accessible to fans and affordable for families to come out and cheer for the team. We believe that our season and single ticket prices achieve that," said Mills.

Once the NBL Canada schedule is announced, single tickets will be available for purchase at a price that is up to 30% less than Halifax's previous NBL Canada team. Excluding HST, lower bowl seats are $6.95 for youth, $10.80 for students, $12.95 for seniors (60+) and $16.50 for adults.

The Halifax Hurricanes start their 2015-16 NBL Canada season in December 2015. Visit www.HalifaxHurricanes.ca for more information.
