Richmond Raiders News Release

KNOXVILLE, TN (May 15, 2012) - The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) has named Richmond Raiders WR Hakeem Moore, Albany Panthers DB Damian Daniels, and Columbus Lions K Chandler Brooks as the Week 9 Players of the Week.

Raiders WR Hakeem Moore (5'11 170, Towson) earned the Week 9 Offensive Player of the Week after hauling in a league-high 12 receptions in Friday's 65-59 victory over the Alabama Hammers helping Richmond improve to 6-2. In his previous four games, Moore had just one touchdown but in Friday's contest he grabbed a league high five touchdowns along with going over the century mark in yards with 171.

Already with the reputation as a 'Nighthawk' on defense, Albany Panthers DB Damian Daniels (5'10 180, West Georgia) seized the Week 9 Defensive Player of the Week for the PIFL after nabbing his first hat trick of INT's of the season. Currently with a league-high 8 interceptions, Daniels picked off three in Saturday's 54-47 win over the Louisiana Swashbucklers with the last two coming inside the final minute of play. Now with a career 88 INT's, Damian is just 8 away from breaking the indoor record.

For the second time in a week, the Columbus Lions needed a game-winning field goal in the final moments with this week's hero being Chandler Brooks (6'1 175, Auburn) who for his efforts earned the Week 9 Special Teams Player of the Week. On Saturday, Brooks notched a league-high 16 points going 5 of 7 PAT's, a perfect 3 for 3 on field goal attempts, as well as connecting on two Uno's with his final field goal from 36-yards standing as the final points in the Lions 58-55 victory over the Knoxville Nighthawks.

PIFL action will resume with all six clubs in action this Saturday night. Beginning at 7:00 PM ET, Week 10 will kick-off when two of the league's hottest team's get-together with the Richmond Raiders (6-2) playing host to the Columbus Lions (5-3). Starting an hour later, in Lake Charles, LA the Swashbucklers (3-5) will look to end their two-game losing streak when they meet up with the Knoxville Nighthawks (1-6) while simultaneously the first-place Albany Panthers (7-1) will pay a visit to Huntsville, AL to face off against the Alabama Hammers (2-6).
