Atlanta Vision News Release
Building on the aged old premise that "all that glitters is sure not gold", the new ABA expansion team the Gwinnett Gwizzlies are working twelve hours a day to ensure that the franchise has substance as well as a style, states Gwizzlies officials.
The franchise has named its coaching staff, general manager, signed free agents, secured it's venue and will recruit a squad of volunteer interns to assist running the franchise. In July the franchise will be sending teams to play in the NBA Summer Pro League in Long Beach and a team to play in the Kentucky Summer Pro League. The Sugar Bears Dance team also will hold tryout in Suwanee in July.
Two sponsors have signed on to supply the team uniforms, shoes and other sports gear. Since being awarded the ABA franchise in Gwinnett in February 2004, the franchise has had consistent press releases about the growth of the franchise every since this winter. Great news?According to Gwizzlies officials, they agree that the program has been set up as a first class operation but need sponors now to sustain this pace of rapid growth as a franchise. As of today there are only two professional basketball franchises in metro Atlanta, which has four and half million people, the Atlanta Hawks and the Gwinnett Gwizzlies.
Sponsorships could make this a great franchise and we need now for sponsors to step up as we are planning to play in 2005-06 at the Arena of Gwinnett that seats 12,500 states Gwizzlies officials.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
