
Guyton Lifts Flight For 101-99 Win At Columbus Monday

COLUMBUS, Ga. (Jan. 20) â A.J. Guyton hit an off-balanced 10 footer with two seconds left to lift Huntsville to a 101-99 NBDL victory over the Columbus Riverdragons here Monday afternoon at the Columbus Civic Center.
The Flight (15-13) won for the second straight game and the fourth time in Columbus this season as they scored a franchise-best 101 points in the contest. The Flight's previous best mark for points in a game was 96 last season at North Charleston on Jan. 17.
Bakari Hendrix led six Flight players in double figures with a game-high 23 points, including 10 in the final period. Guyton, along with Lonnie Harrell, tallied 15 points for Huntsville while Brandon Williams and Eric Chenowith collected 11 apiece and Jermaine Walker added 10.
Greg Stempin, who hit five 3-pointers in the contest including one with seven seconds remaining to tie the score at 99, led the Riverdragons (12-14) with 21 points. Nate Johnson, who played just 18 minutes because of an ankle injury, added 16 points for Columbus while Tang Hamilton and Tyrone Washington tallied 14 each and Shawn Igo added 11.
The Flight led by seven at 98-91 following a pair of Walker free throws, but the Riverdragons scored seven of the next eight points -- capped by Stempin's 3-pointer to tie the game at 99 â as the game featured 17 lead changes and 11 ties.
Huntsville shot 50.8 percent for the game as they converted 31-of-61 from the floor. The Flight also established club game records for free throws made (34) and free throws attempted (43) against the Riverdragons as they totaled a 79.1 percentage from the line.
The Flight finish a span of four of five games on the road when they travel to Mobile Friday for a 7 p.m. contest at the Mobile Civic Center.
