
Gulls Set to Drop the Puck on Postseason Friday, April 21

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club will drop the puck on the postseason with a "Flight to the Cup" buildup this week prior to Game 1 of the Gulls Calder Cup Playoffs First Round series with the Ontario Reign on Friday, Apr. 21 at Valley View Casino Center (7 p.m.).
On Wednesday, Apr. 19, the Gulls will host a "Drive to the Playoffs" event hosted by ENERGY 103.7 with Gulliver and the Gulls Girls at Valley View Casino Center from 7-9 a.m. The first 50 cars to drive through the South entrance at Valley View Casino Center will receive a pair of tickets to Game 1, a Gulls car flag and a continental breakfast. Tickets are limited to two per vehicle and on a first come, first served basis.
Friday, Apr. 21 will feature a special visit by the Gulls, Gulliver and the Gulls Girls to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar (MCAS Miramar) from 12-3 p.m. The Gulls will join active duty Marines for lunch at the Flight Line Food Court and a Call of Duty Infinite Warfare 2x2 video game tournament in the Miramar Room.
Prior to the start of Game 1, fans are encouraged to arrive early to watch a live Gulls ice sculpture created at the North entrance of Valley View Casino Center. Also at the North entrance from 3-6 p.m. will be a live remote broadcast by the Mighty 1090-FM's Scott & BR show from 3-6 p.m. Game 1 will feature a $2 Bud Light Friday Night (6-8:30 p.m.) with all fans in attendance receiving a Gulls rally towel. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for special in-game entertainment prior to the start of the game. Former San Diego Chargers center and 11-year veteran of the National Football League (NFL) Nick Hardwick will participate in a pre-game ceremonial puck drop to kick off the evening's festivities. During the third period, a local Navy SEAL will be honored as the Military Hero of the Game and recognized for their dedicated service in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Additionally, special Gulls playoff merchandise will be available beginning Game 1 and will include men's, women's and youth shirts and sweaters. A free "We Are All In" poker chip will be included with all playoff merchandise purchases.
The 2017 postseason marks the San Diego Gulls' second consecutive playoff berth after appearing in the postseason in 2015-16 during the club's inaugural season. A limited number of tickets for the First Round of the Calder Cup Playoffs at Valley View Casino Center (three potential games) are still available for purchase through SanDiegoGulls.com/playoffs, by phone with the San Diego Gulls ticket office at (619) 359-4730 or in person at the Valley View Casino Center Box Office. Tickets will be sold at the box office on a first-come, first-served basis.
Eligible members of the U.S. Armed Forces can purchase ticket vouchers through their base sponsored Morale, Well-Being, and Recreation (MWR) ticket office. Additionally due to increased demand, regular season vouchers will be honored in San Diego's First Round series.
