Gulls Schedule Exhibition Game

NEWPORT, RI- The Newport Gulls have scheduled an exhibition game against the Wareham Gateman of the Cape Cod Baseball League. This matchup, set for Thursday, June 7, 2018 will be the sixth installment of a series that dates back to 2011.
"It is always an exciting event when we play the Gateman" says Newport Gulls President & General Manager Chuck Paiva. Paiva also states "This is a great opportunity for our players and our organization, we are very much looking forward to it." Currently, the Newport Gulls lead the non-league battle with a record of 3-1-1. It has been two years since Newport and Wareham have competed against each other, playing to a 5-5 tie at Spillane Field in Wareham on June 7, 2015.
This year's exhibition will feature a duo of outfielders that played for the Newport Gulls in 2017 as JC Flowers (Florida State) and Kameron Misner (Mizzou) have both signed to play for Wareham this upcoming summer.
Newport will travel to Wareham after playing the first two games of their 2018 season; at New Bedford on June 5 and at Cardines Field for their Home Opener against the Mystic Schooners on June 6. Wareham's players will be putting on the Gateman jersey for the first time when they take on the Gulls as the Cape League will not begin regular season play until June 12.
