Guinn Does His Part In Pitchers Duel But Flyers Lose In 10 Innings

August 16, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Schaumburg Flyers News Release

SCHAUMBURG, IL - Starting off the game, Brad Correll hit a solo home run to give Joliet an early lead off of Aaron Guinn. However, after the hit, Guinn settled down and did not allow another hit until the 5th inning. Paul Fagan, starting for the Jackhammers, was able to match Guinn, aside from the fact that he walked six Flyers batters as the Flyers left seven on base.

In the Flyers second opportunity with runners on first and third base, Kit Pellow drove in Travis Brown on a sacrifice fly to tie the game in the third inning. Freddie Thon of the Jackhammers would drive in their second run on a sac fly, as Guinn would finish his day after six innings, allowing two runs on four hits with two strikeouts.

Making a comeback in the eighth inning, Mario Delgado tied the game at two with a RBI single. That would be the extent of the scoring for the Flyers, however, as it took extra innings to decide the fate of this series. Correll stepped up once again for the Jackhammers by drilling a two run homer to right-center field off of Cody Evans, his second of the day and third of the series. The Flyers were unable to match in the bottom of the inning, ending the game by a score of 4-2.

The Flyers take to the road tomorrow in Gary at 7pm. Visit flyersbaseball.com or follow along by listening to 1410 AM WRMN, your home for the Schaumburg Flyers.
