January 30, 2020 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Corpus Christi IceRays defensemen Kyle Gudme and Tod Philibert have been selected to play in the 2020 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, the North American Hockey League announced Thursday. The two-day tournament takes place Feb. 17-18 at the New England Sports Village in Attleboro, Mass.
Gudme, 19, is the longest-tenured IceRay, originally joining the team at the trade deadline last season. He was named an alternate captain at the start of this season. The 6-3, 205-pound native of St. Clair, Mich., has played in 84 NAHL regular season games between the IceRays, Springfield Jr. Blues and Austin Bruins, and also appeared in all five of Corpus Christi's playoff games last season.
Philibert, a 6-0, 190-pound native of Laval, Qué., leads all IceRays defensemen with 13 points (3+10) through 35 games played this season. Like Gudme, Philibert, 19, is in his second NAHL season. He appeared in 22 games last season between the Chippewa Steel and Shreveport Mudbugs.
Gudme and Philibert will represent the South Division. The event will feature teams from the four divisions in the NAHL: South, Central, East and Midwest, along with two NAHL Selects teams. Only NAHL players without an NCAA commitment are eligible to participate in the 2020 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, with the exception of those who will be playing on the NAHL Selects teams. Each of the 18-player teams will play two games at the event. The tournament, to be played in front of hundreds of scouts from NCAA programs and NHL teams, consists of six total games, all of which will be carried live on HockeyTV. More information is available at nahl.com/tpt.
This weekend, the IceRays are in the Texas Panhandle for a two-game set against the Amarillo Bulls. Faceoff on Friday and Saturday nights is at 7:05 p.m. CT and will be carried live on Sports Radio Corpus Christi 1230 AM-95.1 FM-96.1 FM (KSIX-AM/FM), mixlr.com/icerays and HockeyTV. Corpus Christi's next home games are Feb. 7 and 9 against the New Mexico Ice Wolves.
IceRays tickets are on sale at the American Bank Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets.
