Greyhounds trade for two, sign two

WHEELING, WV – The Ohio Valley Greyhounds of the United Indoor Football Association have acquired two players by trade and have also signed two additional players to contracts.

The Hounds have acquired QB Antoine Taylor and OL Brad Smalling in a trade from the Fort Wayne Freedom for future considerations and have also added DL Mark Holtzman and RB Terrence Glover to the roster.

Taylor, a 6'0" 210 lb. quarterback from St. Francis University, has been with the Freedom since their inception in 2003. Antoine was 3rd in the league in pass efficiency last season, reeling off a 107.3 quarterback rating. He threw for 1483 yards in 11 starts, finding the end zone 37 times and rushing for 309 yards at 5.4 yards per rush.

In 2003, his first season with Fort Wayne, Taylor threw for 1180 yards and 30 scores in eight games. He also rushed for 184 yards and found the end zone six times on the ground.

Taylor holds numerous Freedom records, such as career and season passing yards as well as career and season passing touchdowns. In five games against Ohio Valley, Antoine threw for 526 yards and 14 touchdowns as well as running for 100 yards.

Smalling, a 6'7" 320 lb. offensive lineman, was signed by Fort Wayne in the off-season as a rookie free agent. Brad was a tackle at Louisiana State, playing under former Tigers Head Coach Nick Saban.

Holtzman, a 6'4" 285 lb. defensive lineman, returns to the Greyhounds after a short stint with Johnstown of the Atlantic Indoor Football League. Holtzman joined the Hounds initially in 2003, garnering 24 tackles (eight for loss), 5.5 sacks, and 2 pass break-ups. In 2004, Mark saw action in seven contests, collecting nine tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one safety, and four passes broken up.

Glover, a 5'11" 265 lb. running back, will see his first action in a Greyhounds uniform this weekend. Terrence had stints in college at Penn State, UMass, and Malone College in Canton, Ohio. In his senior season at Malone, Glover caught 19 passes out of the backfield and also rushed for 95 yards on the season as the team's fullback. Glover is from New Jersey and is a first cousin of SS Shawn Hackett.
