Ohio Valley Greyhounds News Release
The Ohio Valley Greyhounds are pleased to announce the signing of Chonn Lacey from Temple University. Chonn is a 6'1" 210 pound defensive back.
Collegiate linebacker who will shift to strong safety at the pro level...Very effective playing in space, showing smooth lateral agility...Has the quickness to turn his hips and stay stride-for-stride with the receivers in pass coverage...Crunching hitter who has classic wrapup tackling technique...Very instinctive, using his hands well to escape blocks...Knows how to fend off blockers trying to attack his feet...Has a strong burst around the outside and a relentless mentality in pursuit...Excels in man coverage underneath, but also shows great recognition in the zone.
A member of coach Bobby Wallace's first recruiting class, Chonn (pronounced Shawn) holds the longest current starting streak on the team (40)...The collegiate linebacker totaled 299 tackles (215 solos) with 22 stops behind the line of scrimmage, 20 pass deflections and 10 interceptions (seventh-best career total in school history).
Lacey was a free agent signing of the New Orleans Saints and played for the Chicago Rush of the Arena League.
