
Grenville Named Player/Assistant Coach

(10/08/02) Bucks coach/general manager Terry Ruskowski has announced that left wing Chris Grenville will serve as the Bucks' player/assistant coach for the inaugural season of professional hockey in Laredo.
Grenville comes to Laredo with an impressive hockey resumé. The 2002-2003 season marks his seventh year in professional ice hockey. Last season with the B.C. Icemen of the United Hockey League, Grenville scored 30 goals and added 22 assists for a total of 52 points in 52 games. In the Colonial Cup playoffs, Grenville added five goals and three assists in ten games.
Grenville, a 6-1, 205-pound forward from St. Catharine's, Ontario, has scored 30 or more goals in each of the last four seasons. His most productive professional season came with B.C. in 2000-01, when he racked up 52 goals and 57 assists for a total of 109 points. In addition to four-plus seasons with the Icemen of the UHL, Grenville has played in the American Hockey League, East Coast Hockey League and Central Hockey League. Grenville's experience in the CHL came with the Columbus (Georgia) Cottonmouths in 1996-97. With the Cottonmouths, Grenville posted 13 goals and 7 assists in 20 games.
"Chris is a veteran player who knows how to win," says Ruskowski. "Not only is a tremendous asset for us on the ice, but I'll be depending on him off the ice for his help and his leadership."
Grenville and the Bucks will compete in the Central Hockey League's Southeast Division, which includes the Corpus Christi IceRays, Austin Ice Bats and San Angelo Saints. The Bucks open the season at Corpus Christi on October 17, and the IceRays provide the opposition in Laredo Entertainment Center's inaugural game on Friday, November 1.
