Arkansas Diamonds News Release
(North Little Rock, AR) - John Gregory will not return to the Arkansas Twisters as head coach to pursue other opportunities as announced by the Twisters office. Gregory has been coach of the Twisters since taking over four games into the 2005 season, winning more games over a two season period than any coach in team history.
"Words can't describe what Coach Gregory has done for our Arkansas Twisters arena football team in the last two years," states Twisters President Jack Lankford. "We are all grateful for what he brought to our organization both on and off the field."
The Twisters are coming off its second straight record setting season after winning a franchise best 12 games in the regular season. The team also made its second straight trip to the ArenaCup Playoffs, having won 24 total games in two seasons, the most in any two year period in Twisters history.
Gregory leaves the Twisters with the second most wins in team history, and his career record with the team is 29-17, the best win percentage in team history which included a 2-2 record in the playoffs. Gregory led the Twisters to the National Conference Title game in 2006, but lost to eventual champion Spokane.
Twisters General Manager Dick McDonald announced he has begun a search for Gregory's replacement.
