Arkansas Diamonds News Release

(North Little Rock, AR) – John Gregory lost in his coaching debut with the Arkansas Twisters, 48-35 to the Green Bay Blizzard.

The Blizzard (4-1) used one of the af2's best defenses to put them ahead. Twisters quarterback Travis Motley was sacked on the second drive of the game, lost the ball, and Green Bay's Matt Huebner recovered it for a touchdown to give the Blizzard the early lead.

Motley then threw an interception on the Twisters next possession and Robert Garth returned it the distance and the extra point put Green Bay up 14-0.

The Twisters (0-5) closed to 14-13 when Motley found Ted Alford in the back of the endzone, but Coy Nance missed the extra point and that's as close as the Twisters got.

Arkansas used a Robert Kilow kickoff return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to pull within 13 with one minute left in the game. But Green Bay converted a crucial third down to keep the clock moving and end any hopes of a Twisters' comeback.

Robert Garth was named Ironman and Offensive Player of the Game after catching four touchdown passes and scoring another after returning an interception for a touchdown.

Huebner was named defensive player of the game after recovering the fumble for a touchdown in the first quarter. Chris Eggleston had four tackles, three tackles for a loss, and two sacks in the game, and quarterback Johnny Turman completed 18 of 36 passes for 199 yards and five touchdowns.

Motley completed 18 of 39 passes for 180 yards, four touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Kevin Whitley, Kevin Williams and Ted Alford each caught four passes. Williams had one touchdown catch and Alford finished with two.

The Twisters hit the road next week to take on South Georgia while Green Bay returns home to host Louisville.
