Storm guard is CBA's first NBA call-up of 2002-03 campaign

Boise, Idaho (Nov. 20, 2001)— The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Great Lakes Storm point guard Jermaine Jackson has been called up by the NBA's Toronto Raptors. The call-up is the first of the 2002-03 CBA season.

Jackson, a 6-4 product of the University of Detroit ('99), began the season in Toronto's training camp before being released. In the Storm's first two games this season Jackson posted 31 points and 11 assists in a 123-121 (5,2) loss to the Rockford Lightning on Nov. 16, and 19 points and 7 assists in a 110-101 (6,1) victory over the Gary Steelheads on Nov. 17.

"Our organization is very excited for Jermaine to have this opportunity. He is a hard-working player who has devoted a great deal of time and effort towards this goal. He is our floor general, and we'll miss him, but we hope his stay in the NBA is a permanent one," said Storm Head Coach Jeff Grayer.

"We are excited to obtain a player like Jackson who knows our system and has proven he can play with our team," said Raptors Assistant General Manager Bob Zuffelato.

Jackson averaged 15.4 ppg and 8.6 apg in 17 CBA games last season before a Jan. 10 call up to the Raptors. In 24 games with Toronto he averaged 2.4 ppg and 2.4 apg. Jackson appeared in seven games for the Detroit Pistons in 1999-00.
