
Grand Rapids Fails to Control the Lightning

The Grand Rapids HOOPS continued their struggles against the Rockford Lightning, dropping a 144-134 decision at the DeltaPlex Arena to their possible first round playoff opponent. The Lightning took six of seven quarter points behind a hot second-half shooting effort.
The HOOPS were led by a trio of 20-point scorers, which included Alex Scales' team-high 26 points (7-17 FG). Olden Polynice added a season-high 24 points (12-16 FG) and ten rebounds, while Immanuel McElroy chipped in 23 points (7-11 FG).
Grand Rapids (20-22) completed the first half tied with the Lightning 70-70, after falling behind by as many as six early in the half. McElroy led the way with 16 points heading into the locker room.
Rockford (29-13) would not relinquish for the entire second half as they defeated Grand Rapids for the eighth time in ten meetings this season. Albert White scored a game-high 32 points (14-25 FG) to lead the way for Rockford, while Ronnie Fields added 29 points (10-20 FG).
The HOOPS continue on their way toward the CBA playoffs as they will now head out on their final West-Coast swing of the season. They will face the Dakota Wizards on Wednesday, February 26 at the Bismarck Civic Center.
