Just 54 seconds into the first the Bucks went on the power play when Amarillo forward Henry Kuster received a five minute major for tripping. On the man advantage chance forward Jeff Bes fired a pass in front that forward Chris Grenville tipped into the net at 4:17. With the assist Bes registered his 91st point of the year and surpassed the Bucks franchise record for points in a season of 90 set by Grenville last year. Just 90 seconds later it was Bes going backdoor across the goalmouth to Grenville who stuffed in his second of the night at 5:47 to make it 2-0 Laredo. Grenville has scored goals in six straight games and in 18 of his last 21.
The Gorillas got back in the game just 30 seconds into the second when Derek Hahn scored on a rebound to cut the Bucks lead to 2-1. Amarillo was just getting started. At 12:23 forward Henry Kuster scored on a rebound to tie the game at two. A little over two minutes later it was defenseman Mark DeSantis giving the Gorillas the lead with a slap shot from the high slot at 14:53. Just 18 short seconds later it was DeSantis again scoring this time on a wrist shot from the right circle at 15:11. DeSantis' second goal chased Bucks starting goalie David Guerrera from the game with Marco Emond coming off the bench to replace him. Less then two minutes later the Gorillas were back at it as forward Dave Rattray scored on a slap shot from the high slot at 16:58.
In the third period the Bucks got an early power play chance and capitalized. Forward James Hiebert scored on a wrist shot from the slot at 2:33 for his ninth of the year to bring Laredo to within 5-3. Halfway thru the frame the Gorillas went on the power play, but it was the Bucks who took advantage. Grenville broke down the right wing and backhanded a shot from the right circle that went five-hole on Amarillo goalie Shawn DeGagne at 12:47 to bring the Bucks within 5-4 at 12:47. The goal completed the hat trick for Grenville and extended his CHL leading total to 36 lamps. Late in the game the Bucks pulled the goalie, but forward Sam Hill scored into the empty net with a clearing attempt to seal the Gorillas win. FINAL SCORE Amarillo 6, Laredo 4.
Guerrera was pulled after 35:11 allowing four goals on 28 shots. Marco Emond finished up allowing one goal on five shots. Because Emond allowed the goal that turned out to be the game winner he is charged with the loss falling to 16-3-2. DeGagne stopped 42 of 46 shots to improve to 22-11-2. The Bucks were 3-6 on the power play while Amarillo was 1-8.
