Minnesota Axemen News Release
Bemidji, MN - Thomas Gordon, the Axemen wide receiver from Jacksonville, FL, has worked out with the NFL's Buffalo Bills.
Gordon joins the Axemen after a four-year career at Kentucky Wesleyan college. While there, Gordon's prime season came during his sophomore year as he rushed for 555 yards and five touchdowns on 147 carries. He was tied for first in scoring for the Panthers as he scored 30 points in a season that ended with a second Team All-Great Lakes Football Conference selction.
"It's a great feeling to have my talent noticed by NFL coaches and owners," Thomas reflected on the opportunity. "I'm just happy and grateful for the chance."
After his collegiate career, Gordon was invited to the 2012 Kansas City Chiefs rookie mini-camp and then signed with the Wyoming Cavalry of the IFL. In last year's campaign for the Cavalry, Gordon appeared in eight games and had 559 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns as lined up as running back, wide receiver, and kick returner.
"Thomas is an impact player and can make that impact playing a variety of positions. The fact that the Buffalo Bills brought him in to work him out doesn't surprise me at all," Axemen coach Robert Fuller said. "He is very intelligent and has a professional approach to everything he does to go along with a tremendous skill set. I can see Thomas being a fan favorite here in Bemidji if he makes it to camp with us. I anticipate him having more opportunities at the next level."
