Gordon Excited to Return

The Mississippi Surge has officially signed Center Matt Gordon for the upcoming 2013-2014 season. The Perth, Ontario native is expected to be a leader and fan favorite in his second season with the Surge.

Gordon scored 8 goals and racked up 11 assists for a total of 19 points in just 24 games

last year. He proved his importance on the ice with a plus/minus of +9 for the regular season.

"I'm looking forward to be heading back down to the Coast for a 2nd season," said Gordon. "Although I was limited to only 26 games last year, I'm excited to be included in the list of returning players as I feel we have built a solid nucleus moving forward. I hope to help the team in anyway I can during this championship run."

Coach Bes stated that he's looking to build his team on Character, Leadership and the players' willingness to assist in the community. "Matt was our Community Service Award winner last year and we know that he will be instrumental in leading the players in our community effort" said Coach Bes. "The fans love him and he's a hard worker both on and off the ice and we're excited to have him back for a second season."
