Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks News Release
The Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks are excited to bring back Joe Goodman for a second year. Goodman will be a bull pen coach this season along with his pitching duties. He'll be joining the Ducks on May 12. Goodman was a pitcher in the 2002 season where he pitched 28 games, one of which he started. He finished the season with 1-2 with a 3.77 earned run average.
The Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks have re-signed pitcher Steven Oelke and second baseman Damion Roberts to the 2002 roster. Oelke, 23 years old, pitched 11 games in 2002, three of which he started. He finished the season even at 2-2 with a 4.84 earned run average. Second baseman Damion Roberts, 25 years old, joins the Ducks for 2003. He played 83 games last season with 14 doubles, one home run and 32 runs batted in. Roberts finished the year with a .286 average Ducks Draft Four Players
The Springfield/ Ozark Mountain Ducks drafted four new players on Friday, March 7, 2003 in San Antonio, Texas. Carmen Little, 21 year old pitcher from St. Louis, was the number three pick in the first round for the Ducks. This pick was part of the Jim Essian trade last season with Forth Worth. Little had been signed by the Astros on June 10, 2001 and was released by the Astros, June 1, 2002. His pitching speed is approximately 94 mph. The number five pick was 27 year old, Tim Vasquez, who split the 2002 season between San Angelo and Alexandria. He finished last season 1-0 with Alexandria and finished two games for each team. Matt Steinkamp, the number 9 pick was part of the Brandon Mosely trade to Edinburgh last season. He's a rookie right-hander from Webber International University who can pitch with speeds up to 93 mph. With the number 15 pick in the second round the Ducks selected Harvey Stark, a rookie left-hander from St. Mary's University in Texas who has excellent command over his pitching. When asked about the draftee's, Phil Wilson says that these are the "best arms we ever had." Wilson was pleased with the talent at the try-out..

The Coastal Bend Aviators have filled two positions in their infield with the signings of catcher Gregg Maluchnik and second baseman Mark Bugger.
Maluchnik, 26, has spent the previous two seasons in the Northern League and Bugger, 23, spent the past two seasons with the Gateway of the Frontier League.
The Alexandria Aces announced the signing of third baseman Dave Molider, who split playing time last season between two Western Baseball League clubs.
