Fort Worth Cats News Release
As we enter the Easter weekend, the Fort Worth Cats are proud to announce the hiring of a new field manager for the 2014 season and an initial get together to publicly introduce our new manager at the Live Oak Lounge on Thursday. The Cats' staff will be available to answer questions and update fans about the many game day improvements and additional events at LaGrave Field.
Former Dodger Mike Marshall has been hired as the Cats' skipper for 2014. Marshall played all or part of eleven seasons in Major League Baseball, from 1981 to 1991. He was elected to the National League All-Star team in 1984 and has one World Series ring from the Dodgers' 1988 World Series, in which he hit a home run in Game 2. Marshall has since managed five different independent ball clubs since the 2000 season.
"It is truly an honor being named the new manager of the Fort Worth Cats," Mike Marshall said. "It is extra special considering the rich history the Dodgers had here for years. I look forward to representing the Cats and having a championship season in 2014."
Mike and his wife Mary (new Cat's sales representative) will be introduced at the Live Oak Music Hall and Lounge from 4:00-6:30pm on Thursday, April 24. The Live Oak, a new Cats' sponsor for the 2014 season is a unique place to dine, drink and hear some of the best music Fort Worth has to offer. Once known as the Lion's Club in the historic Near Southside, Bill Smith (founder and owner) has taken this 5,000 sq/ft building and transformed it into an incredible multifaceted venue.
The Cats' front office staff will be on hand to answer any questions about the upcoming season and handle season ticket inquiries. The Live Oak Lounge will be offering free appetizers to all attendees and fans are encouraged to stay afterwards for the live music of Ed Rogers on the roof top.
The Live Oak Lounge is located at 1311 Lipscomb Street in Fort Worth.
Fort Worth Cats' season tickets are now on sale by calling the LaGrave Field offices at (817) 332-CATS. Schedule and ticket information can be found at FWCats.com.
